Frequently Asked Questions

How long will treatment last?

A rehabilitation therapy programme depends on many factors and must take into consideration the patient’s current levels, expected recovery, and capacity to engage in treatment.  Following a comprehensive assessment procedure we will be able to set realistic goals with a specific timeframe.  In most cases of Neuro Rehab, we recommend a 5 or 6 day week, comprising between 4-6 hours per day, to be reviewed every 2 weeks.  It is not uncommon for rehab therapy programmes to last between 3-6 months. Regular breaks for resting and recovery are of course of utmost importance, and levels required will be continuously monitored and reviewed.

Will specialist neurological therapy help me if my diagnosis was received a long time ago?

The brain is capable of re-learning and making new connections many years after the onset of a neurological disturbance. Even if you have not had any therapy intervention for a long time, or have not experienced significant natural recovery, a short course of individualised neurological therapy can be beneficial.

Will specialist neurological therapy help me if I am newly diagnosed with a neurological condition?

Early neurological therapy input has been shown to help maintain function. We are able to provide specific advice and strategies re: optimal activity levels to prevent known potential complications.

What language is Speech and Language Therapy conducted in?

Our Speech and Language Therapy programmes are set in English; however we have access to a multilingual network of fully qualified Speech and Language Therapists who may be drawn upon to assist. Studies have shown that Speech and Language Therapy, if undertaken in a patient’s second language, will have carryover effects to their first language.

What clothing should I wear for Physiotherapy?

We recommend loose, comfortable sports clothing for physiotherapy.  Footwear is optional; working barefoot can sometimes be more beneficial.  For physical examination and hands-on therapy we recommend shorts, and for female patients a comfortable bra or undershirt.

Will I need any equipment for Physiotherapy sessions?

We are able to tailor treatment to you using the environment in which you live. Ideally, if you have a space which can accommodate crash mats, yoga balls etc, this can be beneficial to your physiotherapy programme and gives us more space to work with.  Access to a swimming pool and treadmill is ideal.

Which areas do you cover?

We are fully mobile and able to work anywhere in the world.

Will we need to gain a Visa for you to work in our home country?

Dependant upon location.  If your home country requires a visa / work permit for foreigners, we would appreciate client’s support to simplify this process in order to begin our programme as soon as possible.  Our therapists hold German and British passports and have not so far encountered any difficulties obtaining permission to work anywhere throughout Europe and the Middle East.

Do I need a referral from my GP or consultant?

No, we do not require a referral. Either you or a family member can contact us to arrange an assessment.  If you are happy to put us in touch with your existing doctor / medical team, we would appreciate the ability to liaise with them regarding your care.

What are your fees?

Please contact us for a full breakdown of assessment and therapy fees.

How can I be sure my personal details are kept private?

We treat patient’s personal information with the utmost discretion.  A Non-Disclosure Agreement will be agreed upon and signed at the beginning of any engagement.  We are bound by GDPR rules, and any notes/records pertaining to your case will be stored under protection of two-factor authentication; you will have access to your records and may request for them to be handed over or deleted at any given time.

What is the complaints procedure?

We take complaints very seriously, and are ultimately answerable to the Health and Care Professions Council (regulatory body overseeing clinical work of Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists in the UK).  If you are unhappy with your care at any point, please contact us in writing and we will be in touch immediately to rectify any issues arising.
